Platonic and Archemedian Solids
There are five Platonic Solids. Each one is a polyhedron (a solid with flat faces). They are special because every face is a regular polygon of the same size and shape. They are named after Plato, a famous Greek philosopher and mathematician. Wynn spent several hours one morning happily building platonic and archemedian solids from various materials.

Exponents
At the end of third quarter Wynn was introduced to writing numbers in exponential form. He learned that a number multiplied by itself is called a square because it looks like a square. The accompanying work sample meets the following I can statements:
I can understand that a number multiplied by itself is called a square. I can write and calculate squares with exponents (e.g., 3 squared = 3x3 = 9). |
