Social Science -- A study of Europe
This past quarter began with a study of modern Europe. Wynn learned about several different countries, read classic literature from these countries, and studied the unique landforms they contain. This has since transitioned to a study of the ancient civilizations of Europe: ancient Greece, ancient Rome, and the Middle Ages. Some of the texts Wynn has been reading through (fluently) include: Explore Europe by Bobbie Kalman; National Geographic Kids Student World Atlas; and A True Book: Europe by Sandra Newman.
My I Can Statements: I can use geographical tools (maps, satellite images, photographs, Google Earth, and other representations) to investigate and compare how countries in Europe are divided in multiple ways.
I can read and understand fifth grade stories, plays, poems and informational text, including science, history/social studies and technical texts.
I can describe how natural and human-made events in one place affect people in other places.
